Unemployment Rates Decrease With Business Degrees

The economic crisis has caused a dramatic fall in business revenue. While the original predictions for the first quarter of 2009 were 5%, the actual fall was 6.1%, with businesses cutting expenditures to try to make it through the recession.

This is the best time to go back to school and get a business degree; a college degree is often the make-or-break point for whether people push through this economic crisis or fall through the cracks of the reported 6.1% downturn. While experience in the workforce holds considerable merit within an occupation, the unemployment rate based on education as of November 2008 speaks for itself:

  • Lacking a high school diploma: 10.5%
  • High school diploma only: 6.7%
  • College degree: 3.1%

Students with certain business degrees such as accounting are finding that they are in even higher demand than most college degrees due to the contributions they can make to reforming finances in a struggling economy.
